Girls Inc. of Los Angeles — Media Press Kit

For my JOUR 374 Media Relations class, I created a mock media press kit for Girls Inc. of Los Angeles to strengthen my understanding of how to craft clear, compelling, and mission‑aligned media materials. I chose Girls Inc. because of their commitment to empowering girls, and I wanted to create communication pieces that honored their voice, values, and impact. The project required developing a full suite of media relations materials, including a fact sheet, press release, media advisory, and email pitch tailored to journalists and community outlets. I also designed refreshed social media posts to support storytelling and audience engagement. Each component was created to reflect the organization’s mission and to communicate their work in a way that was accurate, uplifting, and accessible to the media. This assignment allowed me to practice building thoughtful, purpose‑driven communication materials rooted in clarity, empathy, and a deep respect for the organization’s voice. It strengthened my ability to translate a nonprofit’s mission into media‑ready content that informs, inspires, and amplifies their impact.
